7 years ago today, “Perception and Deception: A Spy Series (Book 1)” was published. Praise Jesus for this project that has brought me so much joy over the years. I started working on the story when I was 15 or 16 years old. I remember getting my first job teaching Kindergarten at 17 years old, and working on this book at the horseshoe table in my classroom everyday after school for a long time. Felix, the main character, was 21 in the first book, and I really thought she was so much older and more mature than me. Now that I’m 26 years old, I realize the character was only just beginning to understand life. The series progressed - the character grew alongside me and became wiser as I did. And because of that, my heart and journaling of life in general is interweaved deeply in these stories. But an idealized version of life. The characters are always braver than me, the problems are always solved with enough perseverance, and lots of love and compassion flows between the characters in all forms of relationships (colleagues, friends, familial, and romantic). To celebrate this series that means the world to me, I’m sharing an audiobook sample from the very first book. I hope you enjoy it. Don’t ever stop chasing your dreams. God bless!
