Today’s special guest is Jes Drew, an amazing author of thrilling books! From superheroes, to spies, and more, this author has a talent for creating heart-racing stories! I met Jes Drew via Goodreads several years ago, and we bonded over our love of spy books. We love reading each others’ work, so when Jes invited me to participate in a “super” special project with her, I was all in! Jes, myself, and a team of other talented authors are collaborating on a new superhero book series, with each of us writing about our own heroes in the same story universe (there are more details about this in the interview below). The first book, written by Jes Drew, is available on Amazon now! Without further ado, let’s begin!
Why do you like to write superhero fiction?
I have been fascinated by the concept of superheroes since the beginning of my writing career- it's how I began it, actually, with The Time I Saved the Day. When it comes to superheroes- and supervillains- there are a lot of dynamics to consider. There is the struggle of good verses evil, of course, but it is more complicated than just that. Sometimes the question is, how far can a good guy go to stop a bad guy- even doing bad things for a good reason- before it's too far and they are, in fact the villain? How far should they go? Another dynamic I explore in this book is how sometimes someone's greatest strength can become their greatest weakness- and vice versa. It all depends on how you wield it.
How is Accidentally on the Run different than your other books?
Accidentally on the Run is the pilot of a superhero series I'm writing with several other talented authors. That aspect has been extremely fun. Basically, we are writing in the same world, with the same rules surrounding the same pivotal event: a bomb goes off in a bus that gives all its passengers a superability that matches their personality- and a matching weakness. The fun part comes with the fact that at any given moment, all manner of diverse people in different walks of life will be on that bus. Each book explores how someone who was on that bus got there- and where having been on that bus will take them.

What's next for your writing?
Well, I like to finish the year with an anthology of short stories with the proceeds going to charity. This year, I'm putting together another Kristian Clark saga anthology. Like the first one, I get to explore my characters and worlds in that series on a deeper level, along with accompanying illustrations. Also like the first one, all proceeds will go to Human Coalition, a pregnancy crisis center. I will also be re-releasing a short story from last year's anthology, Tales from Parallel Worlds, along with an exclusive short story and a bonus flash fiction. It will support last year's charity, Polaris, that helps fight human trafficking.
