Today’s special guest is Jacquelyn Wiles, an incredible author! For those of you who know me well, I’m sure you’ll be able to figure out why I’m so excited to have Jackie join us today. Jackie and I have quite the history. We met on Twitter in 2014, back when we were both aspiring authors and just beginning to enter the world of book publishing. One night, we started visiting with each other via direct message, and from there, an amazing and supportive friendship bloomed. We’ve become best friends over the years, supporting each other in our writing careers, and more importantly, in our personal endeavors as well. Anytime I need someone to talk to, she’s always there, and she knows she can come to me about anything as well. I’m so grateful to have met this beautiful, kind woman. After knowing each other digitally for five years, Jackie flew out with her son to meet my husband and I for the first time ever last summer, and we got to spend a beautiful, four day weekend together. From shopping, to swimming at the pool, to seeing a movie, to checking out the music museum, and much more, it was a blast. Just when I thought I couldn’t be any more thankful for my friendship with her, I found myself even more grateful than ever to have met this incredible human being. God has blessed me immensely. Her book, "Don't Trust A Stranger," will keep you on the edge of your seat, and there are more books to come from this talented author. So without further ado, let’s begin our interview!
Can you, for those who don't know you already, tell something about yourself and how you became an author?
My name is Jacquelyn Wiles. I am a complete comic nerd. I love to attend conventions and see superheroes come to life. I became an author after reading Stephen King novels, my favorite of his is Carrie. Ever since I was in high school I knew I wanted to write stories but he always intrigued me and I wanted to be just like him.
What inspired you to write this book?
Part of this story is based on my own personal experience and some of it is fabricated to make it more interesting.
Have you written any other books that are not published?
The sequel to Don’t Trust A Stranger, a horror story and a book I am dedicating to one of my best friends who passed away this year. Be on the look out on my twitter page where I will post updates on all of these upcoming books.
Pen or type writer or computer?
I have SO many notebooks dedicated to my writing. I start with pen but end up using the computer for word count and editing.
Advice they would give new authors?
My advice for new authors would be never give up on your dreams. You will not please everyone so write for yourself. Take criticism with a grain of salt and use it to fuel your next book.
